Suzannah Shafiee began dancing at a tender age of 5. She was indoctrinated in Malay Dance from pre-school and pursued her interest by learning from various renowned instructors. Armed with the knowledge she gained, she participated in various musical productions such as Gentarasa, the Singapore Arts Festival and other festivities organized by various dance & arts establishments.
In 1999, she joined the pioneer batch of student dancers under Sri Warisan – Som Said Performing Arts and had the chance to study with celebrated choreographers like Mr. Tom Ibnur in addition to glean invaluable dance doctrines from knowledgeable choreographers under Sri Warisan – Som Said Performing Arts.
Eager to share what she has learned and inspired by her teachers, she founded Ayunda Lestari Group of Cultural Arts in December 1999 to guide and teach new dancers. In addition, Suzannah became a member of Azpirasi Dance Group under the tutelage of Mr. Azmi Juhari from 2005 to 2007 in her desire to learn more about Malay Dance.
As part of her visionary step to inculcate young minds and in keeping with the wealth of knowledge she has gleaned over the years, Suzannah was thereafter appointed as a School Dance Instructor (Malay Dance) in 2006. She is currently one of the most accomplished Malay Dance Instructors in Singapore.
Currently, Suzannah is the Chairman & Artistic Director of Ayunda Group of Cultural Arts, which consists of a Malay dance group (Eunos CC Branch) and Alunan Dondang Irama Melayu (ADIM), a Malay Traditional Music Ensemble.
