HANIYATI JOHANA

Haniyati (Hani) embarked on her journey in the Malay dance scene back in 2007 as part of her secondary school co-curicular activity. Albeit her initial lack of interest and experience in the art form, her instructor Suzannah Shafie moulded her into a great dancer. She took part first in the Singapore Youth Festival in 2009 and clinched the Silver award with her team. Her other involvement in school activities include that of the Hari Raya, Racial Harmony and National Day celebrations. 
With an introduction to Ayunda by her instructor Suzannah in 2010, she honed her skills and knowledge further by joining the group. Her debut act with Ayunda was in 2011 for Muara Showcase with an Asli piece at the Esplanade. Since then, she has taken part in Attrika Danzfest in the years 2012 (Ayunda Berzapin) and 2017 (Joget Gadis Melayu) and Muara again in 2016. She has also represented the group for many weddings, festivals, events and most prestigiously a collaboration for Sri Warisan’s 9 Rangkaian Tari. Hani has always been an inspiration to the team with her tenacious disposition and positive outlook despite all the difficulties she faces especially in terms of juggling work and Ayunda. She has shown astounding perseverance and commitment and is believed to be instrumental in grooming and being an exemplary member for the new comers especially.
